The PAC had two groups out on the roads this Saturday and both had great rides.
Jan led Kelly and Emileigh on a 53 mile course through North Hall and the Skitt’s Mountain area. This was Emileigh’s longest ride so far and she did great. Good job ladies!
Lee, David G, Mike P, and Mike’s cousin Tim did a 97.6 mile ride leaving from North Hall and climbing 4 of the gaps (Unicoi, Jack’s, Wolfpen, and Woody’s). They knocked out this century ride in 5 hours and 44 minutes! And that’s with the extreme heat we had on Saturday.
Way to go PAC!

The PAC was well represented this weekend at the Dahlonega Omnium race held at Montaluce Winery. Mat finished 7th in the road race and Mike L finished 10th. From the race reports, the course was grueling to say the least. Below is what Mike L had to say:
“The climb on Miles Berry separated a good many folks. But the hardest part was when you took the right off of Jay Bridge into the back of Montaluce. First you are hit in the face with a 20% grade, and then another climb, and then a longer painful incline to the start/finish line. ”
Below are some pictures taken by PAC fans! Thanks for representing the PAC guys and doing us proud!

Even though there was a threat of rain most all of the holiday weekend, the PAC was fortunate enough to get in two great rides.
On Saturday, we had 8 riders (Jan, Lee, Bobby, Marty, Mike L, Mike P, John D, David G) show up for the Skeenap Gap loop. It’s been a while since we’ve done this circuit and it was fun to experience it again. The group seemed to enjoy the addition of Hicks Gap and Mt. Pleasant Church Road to the loop. If you’ve never done this ride, do it! You won’t be disappointed. I’ll post the route on the Ride Maps page.
We had two different rides on Monday and both were great. Four riders (Bobby, Lee, David G, Mike P) showed up to ride 3 Gap leaving from the Whatley’s house. This was a hard ride considering our mileage on Saturday, but it turned out to be very fun. Everyone did a great job and the weather turned out to be the best we’ve had in quite a while.
Jan met with Emily and one other cyclist (can’t remember her name) to do a ride in the Clermont area. They ended up with close to 40 miles and they all felt great afterwards. Great job ladies!
I look forward to some more quality riding this week and next weekend as we build our mileage in preparation for the Cherohala Challenge! What Monkey?
